Thinking about checking out a used Ram for sale? As one of the most trusted full-size pickups, the Ram 1500 stands out for its impressive towing and payload figures, durable frame, and dynamic engine options. What truly sets the truck apart is its wide range of available models.

Ram has done a noteworthy job of creating a trim lineup that feels anything but dull. While every Ram 1500 will always be a work truck at its core, Ram has developed numerous models over the years, each with its own distinct personality.

You’ll have several distinct trims to choose from when you begin shopping. Ram has made nearly a dozen trims over the last couple of decades, ranging from entry-level work options to high-end luxury variants. However, today, we’re zeroing in on three trims that really stand apart: the Laramie, the Rebel, and the TRX. Only the former two are still in production; the latter stands out as refreshing and is worth taking the time to explore.

Come along for the ride as we dive into these three remarkable trim options for the Ram 1500.

Laramie: Luxury Meets Rugged Capability

The Laramie is made for those who like the finer things in life. It’s one of the Ram 1500’s luxury trims, and was one of the very first trims available when Ram broke away from Dodge, becoming its own standalone nameplate in 2010.

Premium Features and Seating Comfort

Over the years, the Laramie has seen many improvements. However, if you look at 2019 and newer models, you’ll find a selection of truly premium features. Leather-trimmed seats set the upscale stage, differentiating the Laramie from trims that came before it, which featured vinyl or cloth seats.

Sliding into position for comfortable long drives is a breeze, too, thanks to a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat found on the 2019 model year. Setting your seat angle, height, and distance from the pedals will ensure you have optimal command and visibility for your drive. Plus, it can reduce muscle fatigue and cramps. Thanks to the memory function, once you find your ideal settings, the truck will recall them each time you start the ignition—so there’s no need to worry if a family member or valet makes adjustments.

You’ll also enjoy heated and ventilated front seats, providing optimal comfort year-round. A refreshing breeze across your back helps keep you comfortable and prevents arriving at your destination overheated. Heated functionality also makes early-morning winter drives more comfortable by reducing that initial chill. Even back seat passengers can enjoy premium comfort with the available reclining rear seats.

Entertainment and Audio

Need to pump your jams or entertain yourself with podcasts on your long drives? The Laramie’s 10-speaker audio system, complete with a subwoofer, will flood your cabin with high-fidelity sound. So you won’t struggle to hear the whisper in the audiobook or lighter instruments in your favorite songs.

The Best of Both Worlds

The Laramie is made for those who want to treat themselves but still need a tough, hardworking truck. It delivers upscale features without sacrificing the durability Ram trucks are known for.

Rebel: Thrilling Power, Ready for Any Terrain

The Rebel brings off-road performance and bold style to the Ram 1500 lineup. It’s designed for those who like a thrilling behind-the-wheel feel, but also need the practical benefits of a full-size pickup.

The Rebel launched in 2015 and has been a mainstay since. The foundation of this energetic truck is the 3.6L Pentastar V6 with an available HEMI V8 powertrain option. It delivers the distinctive roar that performance enthusiasts appreciate and is sure to give you a thrilling, spine-tingling experience.

Previously, during the 2025 model year, Ram dropped the HEMI V8, but it has recently been brought back for the 2026 model year. If you’re particularly drawn to this legendary engine, you’ll need to consider 2024 or earlier models.

The Rebel also features a striking twin-snorkel sports-performance hood that announces its presence with a bang. It rolls on 33-inch tires and boasts an exclusive air suspension that not only makes a statement but also enhances ground clearance and approach, departure, and breakover angles.

To complete the look, the seats and steering wheel feature distinctive Rebel-style details with the nameplate badge on the glove box.

Off-Road Capability

True to its off-road nature, the Rebel is equipped with factory lifted, skid plates, and tow hooks. The debut of the trim brought a new line of Toyo Open Country A/T all-terrain tires to the playing field. The tire’s aggressive tread pattern offers improved traction on snowy and gravel terrain. No matter what challenging terrain you tackle, this trim is up to the task—and even on paved roads, it delivers a smooth, comfortable ride.

Even if you find yourself stuck, the tow hooks come in handy for a quick rescue. Meanwhile, skid plates safeguard essential components so that a few flying rocks won’t slow you down.

TRX: The Ultimate Performance Truck

The TRX is sort of the heavy-duty version of the Rebel, taking performance perks to the next level. The TRX trim was available from 2021 through 2023 was discontinued along with its V8 engine. While the TRX is no longer offered, the V8 has returned to the lineup. However, it isn’t equipped to replicate the extraordinary performance of previous years.

During its short run, this off-road beast got its power from a 6.2L HEMI “Hellcat” supercharged V8 producing a heart-stopping 702 hp. For context, the Ram 1500’s other engines during this period maxed out at 395 hp.

The TRX reaches a top speed of 118 mph and accelerates from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, defying the notion that trucks are slow.

Ready for Any Terrain

Put simply, the TRX was made to deliver track-like performance on rugged terrain. Its wider body gives it an aggressive stance and enhances stability. The 35-inch Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires can plow through sand, mud, and tricky terrain with total command. When it comes to racing in the desert in a truck, the Ram 1500 TRX is ready for the occasion.

While the TRX era may be over, determined drivers can still track down this rare and powerful beast.

Luxury to Adventure Ram 1500 Handles It All

Ready to explore used Ram 1500s that are right for work, recreation, and relaxation? These models showcase the versatility and capability that make the Ram 1500 a standout choice.

The Laramie helps melt away stress with its highly adjustable seats, equipped with a memory function that keeps your settings intact, even if coworkers or family make changes. Plus, the heating and ventilation provide year-round comfort, while a premium sound system elevates listening sessions.

The Rebel adds off-road capability to the trusted truck we all know and love. It delivers the power and performance that enthusiasts expect, while a lifted suspension enhances ground clearance, and all-terrain tires provide improved traction in slippery conditions.

If the Rebel isn’t enough power and performance for you, the TRX might be calling your name. With its 702 hp V8, wide stance, all-terrain tires, and impressive top speed, the TRX will leave you feeling anything but bored.
